Project Overview

This project focused on teaching dairy consultants a systematic, objective approach to business analysis using production and financial benchmarks. In six one-day sessions 136 dairy consultants were trained to use the Profitability Assessment (PA) Dairy Tool. Of those consultants, ten percent were solicited to recruit one to two of their dairy clientele to participate in the PA Dairy Tool and drill-down workshop, delivered in five hands-on, interactive one-day programs in Pennsylvania. Working with the project team and consultants, 13 of the participating dairy producers had the PA Dairy Tool run on their farm. Of those 13, two of the farms have completed the drill down portion of the tool. Fourteen farms have had the precision feeding drill down completed identifying the bottleneck to milk production and components.
