Project Overview
Evaluating Your Estate Plan helped farmers address estate planning and farm succession challenges. Participants developed an accurate understanding of the basics of estate planning and ways to address common issues. Five case studies illustrated options and required participants to draw their own conclusions. Participants left the workshops prepared to visit their attorneys. They were able to engage professionals and discuss simple solutions based on their understanding and their own information.
Ten regional workshops were held with grant funding. Another three sites were held with sponsorship. Six sites were held from February 7-23. Seven sites were held June 19-27. All program materials were posted to the Ag Decision Maker site (www.extension.iastate.edu/agdm) as they were developed. Companion documents for practitioners were modified as necessary.
