Project Overview

The number of electronic Point of Sale or Service (POS) software options available has grown exponentially in recent years.  SoftwareAdvice rates 25 different POS products on their useability and customer satisfaction and they also note that 64% of the businesses they work with do not currently utilize any electronic POS system. This RME project integrated the use of POS software to better prepare producers for schedule F based crop insurance products offered like Whole Farm Revenue Protection.  In addition to offering in-person education, the team put together a series of webinars with expertise from taxes to producers marketing with different POS systems. These webinars were made into smaller video clips to address more specific issues. These videos are available at https://pos-systems.farmmanagement.org/.  The project had Co-PDs and collaborators in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, and Hawaii and producer input via videos from all these states. We anticipate reaching may more producers after our project is competed because we will be promoting the availability of this POS resource into the future. Faculty that provided the RME education for this project continue to receive many questions from producers regarding POS systems and how to select a POS system around the specifics of their operation.
