Project Overview

Farm land in Maryland has high urban values so farmers have large estates. In 2004, two one-day estate planning workshops were held. One hundred sixty farmers attended these workshops. Formal and informal evaluations indicate that participants learned about the topic, enjoyed the workshops, and would recommend them to others. However, only farmers close to the sites attended. This project conducted eight of these workshops in other regions of Maryland. The purpose of these workshops was to introduce farmers to estate planning and to encourage them to work with estate planning professionals. It was expected that 350 or more farmers would participate. However, the actual attendance was 259, which was somewhat less. Intentions to contact estate planning professionals were measured at the end of the workshops along with evaluations of the workshops.

Number of Participants: 259
