Project Overview

The project will focused on New York and Pennsylvania. These materials, videos and notebooks, will be available to interested growers nationally. This project was designed to focus on growers reluctant to change current practices and are struggling with commodity prices. After review of the participating growers just under half of the growers fell into this category. Successful growers also participated, interested making further advances

A workbook consisting of economic worksheets, and fact sheets was developed. Due to the timing of the video creation, it was distributed separately. The workbooks are also still available but were used throughout the grant with growers completing them and reviewing their practices based on the results. Due to a temporary withdraw of other funding leveraged by this grant, early adopting producers were not used as peer instructors in videos but were used in workshops. 80 growers attending workshops estimated the cost of a research-based production practice and how the economics of would work into their operation.

30 producers developed a business plan.
