Project Overview

This three year proposal, with extensions, focused on financial, human, and production risks facing Pennsylvania producers and AgrAbility for Pennsylvanians’ clients. Our project contained three primary components. First, we increased our outreach efforts to Pennsylvania’s farm community through public service announcements (PSAs)in the first year; next, we offered clients the opportunity to complete a farm financial plan with one-on-one assistance by qualified individuals. Finally, we collaborated with the PA Association of Sustainable Agriculture, Penn State Cooperative Extension, PA Direct Marketing Association, and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau to hold workshops for small and limited resource producers. Through a total of 31 separate sessions, over 700 farmers were exposed to AgrAbility and were educated on a variety of topics, including crop insurance, estate planning, agricultural lending, stress management, product diversification, milk sanitation, value added agriculture, capitalization, migrant labor, food safety, business liability, farmers market management and production, and much more.
