Project Overview

Annie’s Project has proven successful as a comprehensive educational program and support network for farm women, in helping them to learn to understand and manage the farm business. The curriculum focused on farm and family financial management with opportunities to learn specifics about legal aspects, marketing, business planning, estate planning, insurance, communications and other important topics. One significant component of Annie´s Project was the opportunity for women to network with other women who are involved in agriculture in their geographical area. 119 women participated in Annie’s Projects in five different geographic locations (Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, North Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Imlay City, and Michigan’s “Thumb” area). Participants gained a better understanding of business planning and finances and the impact on their families and farm business.

Topics Covered: Insurance; marketing; financial records and analysis; business succession; estate planning; legal liability; interpersonal, family and business relationships.

Number of Participants: 119
