Project Overview

This project presented family farmers and farm owners in Southeastern Pennsylvania with detailed education on the topic of Farm Business Succession. The educational approach was to present participants information through a multi-part workshop series that was held over the course of four - five weeks. The multi-part series presented participants with the following topic areas: Goal Setting, Retirement Planning, Long-Term Care, Estate Planning, Tax Issues, Selling the Farm, Leasing the Farm, and Developing Your Plan. At the conclusion of the workshop series, participants had a complete framework in place for a farm business succession plan, through completion of homework assignments throughout the series.

Note: This project used the basic curriculum developed by Virginia Cooperative Extension in 2005-2006. The project leader helped with the development curriculum while he was an extension agent in Virginia.
