Project Overview

CCCGA wanted growers to become comfortable with computer tablets and similar wireless technology and train them on the Bog Online Growers´ System (BOGS), a software application designed for MA cranberry growers. The main functionality of BOGS is a record-keeping and reporting online application. It is the one place that growers can record pesticide and fertilizer use, plus additional functionality to record IPM insect sweep count data, tissue and soil test results, water use and sanding amounts. Technology can provide solutions, but many growers are not familiar with the devices and some fear them. The idea of this grant project is to expose more growers to electronic record-keeping and basic computer use. It also provides online, printed and video tutorials on how to setup and use the BOGS Online Grower System. It also provided small group training sessions on BOGS, a grower workshop, focus group and created technical support and educational tools.
