Project Overview

Elimination of common grain marketing mistakes is the focus of Profitable Grain Marketing. In three, three hour classes, producers learn to avoid common marketing mistakes. Understanding local basis is the foundation. Other topics include, the roll of storage and market carry in post harvest marketing plans, exploring key elements of pre-harvest marketing plans, in depth discussions of grain pricing tools, including forward contracting and futures markets, understanding the role of crop insurance, the use of technical tools, and using decision tools in developing grain marketing plans. Marketeer soft ware and training is provided each participant.

Profitable Grain Marketing is a common sense approach in the development and execution of grain marketing strategies with a simple take home message. This program will appeal to grain producers looking for a different approach to successfully pricing grain. This program will reach 140 producers with an estimated economic impact is $5.4 million dollars.
