Project Overview
In response to the large number of women-owned agribusinesses in Connecticut, and by modeling other successful WAgN programs in Vermont and Maine, the CT Women’s Agricultural Network was established. Project cooperators and women entrepreneurs across Connecticut comprise the steering committee that developed the program of work.
Women agribusiness entrepreneurs continue to be the project’s target audience. The project objectives were to build capacity and educate participating women on the importance of risk management practices. This was accomplished through workshops, conferences, twilight meetings, and networking sessions sponsored by CT WAgN. The development of a website provided identity and form of communication on the internet.
WAgN provided women with the opportunity to learn risk management practices and encouraged them to network and learn from one another. WAgN participants were also made aware of and encouraged to attend other previously established risk management programs.
One hundred and seventy five women are currently participating.
Number of Participants: 175
