Project Overview

Women, Farms & Food is a woman-farmer–driven project using webinar technology and follow-up skill based workshops.
More than 650 women from Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska participated in the conference.  The theme of the conference was “Put Your Best Boot Forward” and the content focused on learning marketing skills to showcase their operation, developing a marketing plan and gaining a better understanding of how to engage people to increase their financial base.  Seven follow-up workshops in 5 locations included sessions on financing, business planning, selling your product, estate planning related to transfer of non-titled property, safe animal handling practices, balancing competing commitments and labor practices.  One follow-up workshop was presented via webinar to the conference participants who requested additional marketing experience.

A total of approximately 827 women participated in the conference and one or more additional workshops.

Evaluation data shows that the content was focused on what women farmers need to help them implement risk management tools to help them manage and control the risks they experience.
