RAFI worked with farmers to analyze the new Whole-farm Revenue Protection (WFRP), Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) buy-up option, and organic crop insurance options. This approach addressed production risk in insurance products and product and enterprise diversification.
Outreach targeted 650 women, Hispanic, sustainable, specialty crop, and organic producers. Women and Hispanic producers were reached through partnership with the Hispanic Women in Agriculture Co-op (HWIAG). Other sustainable and organic growers were reached through outreach workshops conducted in North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, and Texas at nine conferences. Two webinars (English/Spanish), sharing of resources through RAFI's Risk Management Web Portal, and leveraging RAFI's existing farmer network will be completed before the end of the project.
Three workshops included an HWIAG member with experience using Adjusted Gross Revenue-Lite and/or WFRP. Producers analyzed the effectiveness of crop insurance options and departed with tools to assess the effectiveness for their own farm.
