Project Overview
The Regional Women in Agriculture Program was a 3-part program – a Conference, a Network, and a Newsletter. Its goal was to offer risk management educational opportunities, in all five risk management areas, to agricultural women so that they might make informed agribusiness decisions.
The annual Women in Agriculture (WIA) conference, has successfully served as a vehicle for delivering risk management education to agricultural women in the region since 2002. A two-day, regional WIA Conference, offering at least 15 educational workshops to a target audience of 175 participants occured in 2008.
Through conference evaluations and follow-up WIA mailings, women expressed their interest in a WIA Network. Facilitated by Extension professionals, women met in 3 informal settings i.e. on farms, or in indoor meeting spaces.
Quarterly WIA newsletters, mailed to over 200 women, communicated timely risk management topics and upcoming WIA events.
Number of Participants: 243
