Project Overview

Women Ag Marketing Club’s provided women actively involved in marketing commodities to meet in person and via the internet. Participants followed the activity of commodity markets, and learned what contracts and selling options are available in the local and regional markets. There were 3 land based marketing clubs around the state with real time web access to one of the meetings. Some participants were identified through Annie’s Project, Women Land and Legacy meetings, county Farm Service Agencies and Iowa State University Extension. They met monthly from November to April then once in the summer. At the meetings they discussed ag commodity markets, reports, options and cash contracts available. Women played the online game "Commodity Challenge" and throughout the year developed a marketing plan for their operation. A Facebook page was developed to share information and the video of the north central meetings were placed online. A networking meeting for all those participating was hosted and marketing speakers provided. Two of the groups will continue on.
