Project Overview

Annie’s project is designed to empower farmwomen to manage information systems used in critical decision making processes and to build local networks throughout the state. The target audience is farmwomen with a passion for business and involvement in the farm operation. Session topics cover the five areas of farm risk management – production, marketing, financial, legal risk and human resources.

Annie’s Project was conducted throughout Maryland and Delaware in early 2010 at seven sites. There were eight, three hour sessions that focused around the five areas of farm risk management. Sessions were taught by individuals from various sectors including university, government, private industry and agriculture.

Results of Annie´s Project include resources and tools for effective farm business management and a network of participants and expertise. Overall goals include farm profitability as well as increased business knowledge, efficiency, organization and communication.
