Project Overview

Research indicates that 2/3 of all grain farmers market their products in the bottom 1/3 of the yearly price range. Farmers that participated in this program developed and implemented a written pre and post harvest marketing plan that enabled them to market at consistently higher levels than they did prior to the training. Participants developed more understanding of the pricing tools available and how and when to use specific marketing tools.
The grain marketing educational efforts were based on the Minnesota model "Winning the Game". The market simulation game helped participants develop their own marketing plans.
Pre-harvest marketing strategy workshops were presented to 130 Maryland producers through six workshops. Post-harvest marketing strategy workshops were presented at eight Maryland locations to 99 producers. The pre-harvest and post-harvest marketing strategy workshops were presented to 347 participants in Pennsylvania,Delaware and Virginia.

Number of Participants: 576
