Project Overview

In NH the Census of Agriculture reported 3,551 family farms and of these 1,442 operators had less than 10 years of farming. Talking about money in any family has its issues but with farm families it becomes more challenging. Household income/expenses are typically co-mingled with the farm income/expenses which can result in conflict during decision-making. Farmers want to be on the most productive path. Farm families implemented techniques by recording expenses and gaining skills in talking about money. Print materials, workshop modules, and visual recordings of families and professionals talking about money management can be shared in one-on-one settings, group settings and on a website resulting in farm families taking steps to organize family/farm meetings, separate the family spending/savings plans while using effective communication skills and conflict management techniques.
