Project Overview

The “Nevada Risk Management Project for Producers Underserved by Crop Insurance” will help producers understand existing and emerging federal crop/livestock insurance products and mitigate financial stress on Nevada farm and ranch operations.  The project team consists of three faculty from the University of Nevada, Reno. Partnerships include USDA, American Indian Tribes, Nevada Cattlemen’s Association, Nevada CattleWomen, Inc, and Nevada Farm Bureau.  This statewide project consists of the following programming:  American Indian Financial and Production Risk; Agriculture Market Outlook and Dealing with Financial Stress; and Nevada Cattlemen’s Update.   This proposal will also be flexible to assist producers in managing financial stress during the world-wide pandemic of COVID-19.
