Project Overview
The project objective was to develop a number of specialty crop budgets for use by growers in conjunction with workshops to educate growers about the use of these budgets along with developing a market plan. Additionally, an online learning module would be developed to be included in the Farming Basics course for beginning farmers. Prior to the coronavirus shutdown, 10 specialty crop budgets were developed and made available through the ACES website. The online budget module was also completed and will be available when the revised Farming Basics course is reposted. The workshops that would allow face to face interaction with growers were scheduled for the spring of 2020 and were cancelled due to meeting restrictions. Due to online components of this project that were already developed, it was decided that in-person workshops would be kept as part of the project but would be rescheduled when restrictions are lifted. In 2021, we were able to host an online training that served 68 participants. We plan to move forward with these workshops as soon as feasible even though the grant period will have expired.
