Project Overview
This project helped direct market farmers identify and assess areas of market risk and provided them with marketing strategies and communication tools to reduce their risk. We had 53 beginning, small, and limited resource producers-- which make up a large percentage of the local farming population-- participate in the workshops and an additional 8 people access the on-line material. Workshops covered: brand communication and the importance of a marketing plan and, marketing strategies such as: media communications, electronic media, merchandising, print communications, and websites. Upon completion of the series farmers began to implement their marketing plan and marketing strategies, understood marketing risks, and had the tools to evaluate effective marketing strategies. The resources and tools were also made available on-line to reach additional farmers. Within six months of completion of the project, we expect 20 farmers will have implemented a new marketing strategy and 20 will have implemented at least one improvement in their current marketing.
