Project Overview
The MidAtlantic Women in Agriculture programs deliver risk management training to women in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Virginia. Education in all areas of risk management are delivered through a variety of learning environments including classrooms, conferences and on farm tours. Specific programming includes eight Annie's Project sites and one multistate conference.
2015 educational programs were created to improve content knowledge, encourage risk management implementation and increase farm profitability. Of the 35 Annie's Project participants surveyed, 81% will write an estate and business plan, 76% compile farm financial statements, 79% check credit reports, 84% write business and marketing plans, and 88% increase communication and family relations. End of conference results of 181 participants include 42% made changes in their agricultural business and 95% felt more prepared to make informed decisions. Outreach programs in 2015 reached over 274 women in the classroom and 700 through web and social media.
